Shirley-Ann Rueschemeyer, University of York
Language is a unique and powerful tool for communication. Nevertheless many cognitive neuroscientific studies of language fail to study language within communicative settings, and fail to take the final communicative goal of language into account when interpreting their results. In this talk I will present some of the research I have done in the past year looking at how social understanding and social settings can directly influence the cognitive processes underlying language comprehension.
